Paper folding craft (4)

Origami korean Paper Bow! It's 'korean' simply because the original designer of this craft is a korean. This is how it looks like...

Cool right? I know ;P..so I'm going to show you origami Korean paper bow step-by-step in pictures.

 First, begin with a square paper. It's easier if the paper is colored/ printed on both sides, but most common type of origami papers are colored on one side only. In that case, the colored side should be facing inside and the plain one outside while you're folding it.

Fold the paper in half in both directions (up-down, left-right).
Unfold the paper and you'll find 2 creases.

Then fold it diagonally into a sandwich shape

fold the triangle into half. Still a triangle.

Open the pocket from the bottom and follow the crease to make it into a square.

It should look like this when both sides are done. A square or a diamond shape.

Fold the tip of the closed end.

Unfold the whole paper. You'll find the paper with these creases, with a small square at the center.

Then the next 2 steps I don't know how to explain, you just see and try yourself ba...

Then press and flattened it

Now you  have a shape like the diamond symbol for Poh Kong.

Fold 4 sides of the closed flaps 

Open the paper slowly....

and you'll find a 3D square at the center.

Flattened it and you have the 'knot' of the bow. Then turn the whole paper to the plain side.

Cut the line of the side folds with, preferably, a knife. Ermm...where to cut?

Here lo...how to explain...Anyway, cut all four sides of  'here lo'.

Flip the upper part to the bottom

Then for the two 'wings' on left and right, fold them into sharp ends.

Turn the paper to the colored side.

Grab the sharp end of each wing and insert it into the 'knot' of the bow. 

Then use a scissor to cut the vertical line coming down from the 'knot' to create tails for the bow

Cut abit from the side towards the center line to create distance in the middle.

Cut ribbon tails.

And you're done!

Feel the satisfaction when you finish the craft, so cute and pretty! And ponder yourself: why don't I just take a ribbon and tie a bow in less than 3 seconds?

I've just....bought...my guitar.......

yes, I bought my guitar..........I should start the post with something like "I bought my guitar!!!" with as many exclamation marks or put in in capital letters "I BOUGHT MY GUITAR!" coz I've finally bought a guitar for myself rightt.....but that's not how I feel now...

I regretted buying it from the moment I step out of the shop.  

After surveying almost all the guitar shops in KL and PJ via internet, I thought Woh Fatt music house in Pudu is the best choice to get cheap/affordable guitar. Geographically also very convenient. And yes, they have alot of guitar brands and wide range of prices. And the staffs are friendly and helpful.

Right choice of shop....but wrong choice of guitar on my part....*cry* 

So I'm here to release my feeling give some advice to the beginners (like me) who are thinking of buying a guitar on a budget, from the advice I heard, the reviews I read, and the experience I learnt.  

If you're serious bout learning guitar but on a budget, try something around RM200-500. For instance, the guitar seller actually recommended a Hofma guitar which he offered RM280, and the touch is really not bad, wood also nice. And actually when you try searching through the net, you can find these better-quality-than-the-100-something guitars at plus-minus RM 300 such as L.Luthier. But I didn't much think bout that coz my mind was filled with: "I'm on a budget, try to get the cheaper." "I'm broke after repairing my car....so get the cheapest!"

So I didn't think twice and bought the cheapest one at RM145 inclusive of bag. Wayyyy below my budget and I should be happy bout it. It's the famous Kapok guitar.(If you get it from guitar shops in shopping mall, the guitar itself costs you 150.) A lot of people will recommend it as the cheap-and-quite-good guitar. well..better than the cheap techno guitars.

Now, someone, please smack my head and ask me to think bout long term, bout trying out other guitars, and it's not like I don't have budget for something like the Hofma guitar.......arggghh!!  

Okay, enough....for now I'll be contented with my kapok guitar. PTL!

Modern-day Noah

After learning a small part of the modern jurisprudence, amazed and at the same time puzzled by the theories of the renowned positivists, the logic, the criticisms, the debates, and whatnot....I find this article in Reader's Digest particularly humoring.

So God spoke to Noah and told him to build an ark.
(quote from Reader's Digest April 2012 edition) - "If Noah lived today..." by Nury Vittachi

Then came a man in a dark suit, who calleth himself the Compliance Officer. 

He said unto Noah:"All projects need stamped permits to make sure thou hast complied with ordinances. Is this a sole proprietorship or a limited company?" 

And Noah replied:" The Lord God Almighty spoke unto me and told me to build and ark thus." 

The man says: "Your partner will have to co-sign the articles of incorporation." 

Noah scratches his head," But He writeth only on great tablets which He passeth down to humans from mountaintop locations."

..............

The man: "...What's your business plan, aims and objectives?"

Noah replies:" To save everything that liveth."

The man sighs. "Can we scale it down? No? Then specify assets. What does your operation produce?"

Noah pauses. "When the animals are inside, we will produce 4000 tonnes of dung everyday."

The man smiles. "OK, so you're a fertiliser maker. And liabilities?

Noah says:" The world as we know it will be destroyed utterly."

The financial man asks: "Estimated value?"

The question baffles Noah. "Thou canst not put a price on it. It's priceless."

The answer irritates the man in the suit. "May I remind you, Mr Noah, that no investor finds words such as 'priceless' helpful."

Noah says: "I will start on the paperwork thou requirest. Come back and see me in 40 days and 40 nights, OK? Goodbye."

As Noah shuts the door, the first drop of rain lands on the Compliance Officer's shoulder.

It's shuttlecock (3)

Went to MO'12 last month. Really didn't feel like going seriously. My passion for badminton has GONE! Yesss! Guess my primary purpose (besides to catch some thrilling live badminton actions if I'm lucky enough) was to meet with old badminton buddies. 

Well, for that 'thrilling live badminton actions' part, it was quite a disappointment. LD lost the day before quarter-final, Cai-Fu didn't participate, Yong Dae didn't play MD, Koo-Tan was kicked out in early round, WS and WD were left with China girls fighting themselves out. I guess the climax for the quarter-finals was in the 2nd game between Jorgensen vs Chen Jin. CJ won in the 1st game and Jorgensen was trailing behind few points closing to the end of the 2nd game. But he somehow got into the rhythm of the game and with the supportive crowd behind him ( a.k.a anti-China players crowd), he was boost with confidence and 'Ohm'. So the mental game started and CJ was shaken. Jorgensen was able to take advantage of the situation and brought the game to deuce (ha, now this is what the audience love and enjoy). The cheers and clappings for Jorgensen were as if he's a Malaysian player playing in his home ground lol. Poor CJ was stressed and let the 2nd game slipped from his hand. Then...nothing much to say bout the 3rd game, CJ's skill has always been one level above Jorgensen.

Now for the second part, it's like an adventure in the stadium! I got a crazy friend who met a whole bunch of even crazier friends finding ways to get into some secret areas. And we managed to find the players' warm-up courts! The players played quite casually during the warm-up session. And you can see and hear the interactions and conversations between them, e.g Lee Yong Dae chatting and laughing with his partner while playing, LCW flirting with the chinese player etc...  
The 'reward' for following the crazy friends? A pic with Zhang Nan...tada! I'm not sure why I took a pic with him, I wasn't even sure whether he's Zhang Nan or Chai Biao actually, lol. But yea he's ZN, the current no 1 XD player.

All the best in OG 2012! That's the highest achievement an athlete can hope for, no?

Late review of year 2011

I'm late. It's almost mid of Jan 2012. But still I want to wish 'A Sojourner': Happy 1st anniversary! =D
It's quite a 'success' for me personally given the fact that I never write diary, lack of consistency in doing...basically everything, and I don't express myself well. But one thing for sure, I like to write than to talk.

For the review, I'd like to conclude the Learning post for year 2011. haha.
(i) 早睡早起身体好 - I think I'm quite on track in the 3rd quarter of the year. Nonetheless, 江山易改，本性难移啊！ It's a total failure in the final quarter of the year. and I can feel that health is deteriorating. *sehr schlecht*

(ii) Schwimmen - Ich kann jetzt schwimmen! ..aber nicht so gut. Quite confident about this. I'm improving on it.

(iii) Kochen - hmm..I have evidence..

chicken rice!

Now this is the best thing I've ever cooked - chicken rice! It was a sweet cooking coordination with Dr. See. The picture doesn't serve the dish justice. It was really tasty - the taste of the rice + the chicken. The proportion of everything was just nice! *schmekt gut* 

Mashed potato - so-so.
Quite satisfied with it. As long as I like it.

(iv) Guitar spielen - I can remember the chords very well and tried to play more hymns but not much progress.

(v) To gain weight - I got a 'D' for the effort and a 'F' for the result. I'm a living skeleton now. (I've always been a living skeleton.)

2011 had been a long year for me, from 4 months of my 4th sem, then 4 months of holidays, to 4 months of 5th sem. If not for the resolution we'd made before the Lord at the beginning of the year, it would have been a year of vanity though it's filled with challenges, happy times, difficult times, deceiving times...
He never forgets our resolution and consecration.

Now the beginning of 2012 wasn't as what I expected. It started with exams and farewells...can you believe it? =(

Children Camp 2011 - the last children camp serving together as campus students

I admit that I'm a very nostalgic person. This has become even more apparent when one gets older. Whenever I come to think that companions are leaving soon, I mean really soon, it's just yet another sigh. Today is the last day of the 5th sem, even there's still 1 month/ few months/a sem before they graduate, a lot of things that we do/ did/ are going to do, are not going to happen again.
Once a sis told me that the campus time is the best time to be builded up with the sisters.

To wear the same colour or same shirt is definitely an outward thing; inwardly how much have we been builded up together, I don't know. Have we experienced any building?

Beware of dog

This is the recent me.

There's something I've always wanted to say to all people around me these 2 weeks

for everything. 

Anyway, someone suggested that in my case it should be 'beware of cat' instead of dog. So here is it.
